We Got There!

Lifeline Central West has officially opened a new hub in Mudgee – and yes, we were just a little excited! Whoo-hoo!

On opening night, more than 110 community members and VIPs joined us to celebrate this milestone. We were honoured to have former Wallabies captain Nick Farr-Jones AM as our keynote speaker. His powerful address highlighted the life-changing benefits of volunteering – not only for the community but for every individual who steps forward to give their time. His personal volunteering story was deeply inspiring and set the perfect tone for the evening.

A Milestone Moment

One of the most moving highlights was hearing about one of our very first crisis calls answered locally by new Crisis Supporter, Tracey. This was exactly what we dreamed of – a permanent presence in Mudgee, where help is close at hand when it matters most.

The new hub is more than bricks and mortar. It’s a commitment to:

  • tackling isolation,
  • reducing mental health stigma,
  • supporting young people facing increasing challenges.

We wanted a place where Lifeline could grow with the community: a safe, welcoming space that builds resilience and connection, making sure fewer people fall through the cracks unnoticed.

The Power of Partnerships

This project began without a cent of government funding – just a strong belief in our mission and an unwavering desire to be here.

With backing from Club Mudgee, Glencore, Yancoal (through Moolarben Mine), and Mid-Western Regional Council, we took our first step. Since then, we’ve been fortunate to receive major training investment from ACEN Australia, enabling Crisis Supporter Workplace Training (CSWT) and Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) programs across the Mid-Western region.

The hub belongs to the community. To make it sustainable – and to grow the services people are asking for – we’ll keep building strong partnerships with local businesses, sponsors, and supporters. Together, we can create a more connected, resilient, and suicide-safe Mudgee.

What’s Next?

This is just the beginning. We’re excited to expand alongside this incredible community, offering training, services, and outreach that strengthen the safety net across the region.

And there are so many ways to get involved:
* Become a volunteer (crisis line or other roles)
* Share your skills and services
* Choose Lifeline Central West as your fundraiser beneficiary
* Simply help spread the word

Every contribution strengthens the safety net for people in our region.

We’re keeping the momentum going too! On World Mental Health Day – Friday, 10 October 2025, ACEN Australia will host the Mid-West Charity Ambrose in Mudgee

This special event will raise vital funds to keep the new Mudgee Hub strong. Join us on the green for a day of connection, community, and impact.

With your support, we can make sure no one in our region ever has to face their darkest moments alone.
