The Blended Online MHFA Community Course is adapted from the Standard Mental Health First Aid Course for adults and teaches participants how to assist a friend, family member, or other members of the community who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis.
.
Additional Information
MHFA teaches participants how to assist, listen and respond to people who may be experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves.
.
Please note it is an educational setting, not therapy. That being said it is quite normal for people to become distressed during some content and your highly skilled Lifeline facilitator will be there to guide and support you through the process..
.
Blended Online MHFA Community workshop includes two course components: –
• Course component 1 is a self-paced interactive eLearning (5-7 hours via the MHFA Australia website)
• Course component 2 covers two Instructor-led video conferencing sessions (2 x 2.5 hour Zoom sessions)
For the virtual sessions you will need access to a computer or tablet with an internet connection, a camera, microphone and speakers. A Zoom account is not needed – we will send a link to you once you are registered with MHFA.
.
Participants need to complete their course component 1 prior to attending the course component 2. Both course components of the course are to be completed within a 3-month period.
