Calling all sporting associations (and other community clubs and associations)

Your mental health is just as important as your physical health.

Take care of your community’s mental health by hosting a mental health workshop in the Blue Mountains, Hawkesbury, Lithgow or Penrith LGAs. Get your teams to attend and complete the workshop – so they are mentally ready and healthy for the new sporting season! (all workshops are suitable for ages 16+ however MHFA is 18+)

Workshop training period: March to June 2025, limited places available.

This workshop is free for sporting associations. Minimum 20 and maximum 25 participants required per workshop.

Workshop courses to choose from:

1) SafeTALK (4-hour)

2) Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (2-day)

3) Accidental Counsellor (4.5-hour)

4) Aboriginal Accidental Counsellor Yamayamarra (5-hour)

5) Mental Health First Aid – Standard, Older Person, Youth, Aboriginal (2-day)

6) Conversations About Suicide MHFA (4-hour)

7) Professional Boundaries & Workplace Resilience (1 day)

8) Managing Challenging Interactions (2-hour)

9) Mental Health Chat (2-hour)

** A suitable gift voucher (excludes the purchase of alcohol and tobacco) is provided to the sporting association (not any individual or other community organisation) to ensure that booked participants have attended the workshop.

The value of the gift voucher will depend on the length of the workshop as set out below:

$50 voucher for workshops up to four hours

$100 voucher for full day workshops

$200 voucher for 2-day workshops

Conditions:-

1) To receive a free training, a sporting association must have a minimum of 20 and maximum 25 participants booked in one workshop. This applies to all workshops except Mental Health First Aid workshop where the maximum number is 24 only.

2) To claim the gift voucher, all participants from the sporting association must have successfully attended the booked workshop.

3) Only one gift voucher per workshop. If there are two sporting associations or more co-hosting the same workshop, the voucher is shared among the associations.

4) A suitable sports gift voucher (excludes the purchase of alcohol and tobacco) is an incentive to sporting associations only.

This activity is funded by Nepean Blue Mountains Primary Health Network (NBMPHN), as part of the Australian Government’s suicide prevention initiatives. Wentworth Healthcare is the provider of NBMPHN.
